Here at Ski Peak we believe in cooperation and partnership. We also know that there are some wonderful opportunities outside the realm of Vaujany and Alpe d'Huez.  We've searched high and low for fantastic 'out the box' alternatives and we think we've found some truly epic hideouts to share with you.


Bankso

One of, if not THE most exciting Eastern European winter hangout, is the resort of BANKSO, in Bulgaria. This option is pretty perfect for beginners of all ages, large groups wanting to not entirely focus on skiing or families just finding their ski legs. Bansko is situated at the eastern end of the Pirin Mountains – Bulgaria’s most snow sure and diverse range also recognised and protected by UNESCO. It has become Bulgaria’s largest and most modern ski area.

ZAKOPLANE

Sitting on the mountainous border between Poland and Slovakia, Zakopane is the perfect base to explore the Tatra range of the Carpathian mountains. With top quality skiing and snowboarding for half the price of better known European ski resorts. The ski areas around Zakopane are made up of over 15 individual resorts covering over 100km of slopes, some independently owned and run. The vast majority are covered by a single Tatry Super Ski pass.

The ski chalets are situated at the heart of the best skiing both Poland and Slovakia have to offer. The different ski areas vary massively with something for everyone, whatever your ability, it’s a bit like a ski pick and mix.

Beginners can learn at floodlight Nosal ski center which is situated directly opposite our Stardust chalets.

Improvers will love the empty, wide pistes and personal tuition at nearby Bukowina resort, there we can provide the best instructors to teach the skills you need to enjoy the mountain unaided. For the more adventurous and advanced riders, there’s great piste and free ride skiing at 1980m on Kasprowy Weirch only 5 minutes away.

SKI TOURING/SPLIT BOARDING THE TATRA MOUNTAINS

Exploring the vast Tatra mountains is an experience that won’t be forgotten.

If you want to see what this historic ski town and wild mountain scape has to offer then this adventure in the Polish backcountry is for you.

On this adventure you’ll explore the tallest peaks on the mountainous Polish-Slovakian border. A mix of beautiful slopes and fresh pine forests await.

Whether it’s your first time ski touring or split boarding or you’re a seasoned pro, the expedition can adjusted to your needs.


CAT-SKI MACEDONIA

Snowcat skiing in North Macedonia has grown in popularity in the last few years. The natural makeup of the Shar mountain plateau allows easy, high-point access across a huge 150 sq km playground.

While well-known ski resorts across Europe can be overcrowded in Macedonia is a totally different experience. Jump in the back of the snowcat and there’s a feeling that anything is possible.

Daily fresh lines up to 850 vertical meters are the norm during your stay. From wide open faces and steep couloirs to natural pipes and delicious pine forests, the Shar terrain is the gift that keeps giving whatever the weather.

All guides have a minimum of six years of guiding experience. Two guides are always provided for each Snowcat group (one front and one tail guide for optimal safety).

Additionally, all necessary safety equipment such as an avalanche transceiver beacon and ABS avalanche bag included in the price.
